Martensville’s Dylan Derksen remains unbeaten and has locked down a playoff spot at the Curl Sask U20 Men’s Provincial Championship in Regina.

REGINA -- The top two playoff spots have been decided at the Curl Sask U20 Men’s Provincial Championship in Regina.

Now the question is who will join Dylan Derksen and Rogan Snow -- both undefeated at 4-0 -- in the Page Playoffs beginning Saturday evening at the Highland Curling Club.

Derksen and his Martensville rink of third Logan Sawicki, second Tyler Derksen and lead Gavin Martens opened their day Friday with a 10-7 win over Saskatoon Nutana’s Jared Tessier after roaring out to a 5-0 lead through the first two ends.

Things went even better in the afternoon draw, as after giving up one in the first, Derksen would proceed to score points over the next five ends against Esterhazy’s Brandon Weiss, going on to a 9-1 win in six ends.

Snow and his Saskatoon Sutherland rink of third Nathan Roy, second Brandon Henbury, lead Josh Lussier and alternate Cole Hilderman also got off to a great start Friday, opening a 7-0 lead through three ends and going on to defeat Moose Jaw’s Dayne Heisler 10-2 in six.

It was much the same in Snow’s second game, with a 5-0 lead through three leading to an 8-1 win over Regina Callie’s Andrew Moulding, also in six ends.

Action from the evening draw saw Heisler defeat Moulding 5-4 and Tessier down Weiss 9-2

Standings after Friday competition are as follows:

Dylan Derksen 4-0
Rogan Snow 4-0
Dayne Heisler 2-2
Jared Tessier 1-3
Andrew Moulding 1-3
Brandon Weiss 0-4

How the rest of the playoff picture shakes out will be decided during the 9 a.m. draw Saturday. Derksen will face Snow to decide first place, while Heisler will take on Weiss and with a win will lock down third place. Tessier and Moulding play each other and will each need a win to have a shot at the playoffs.

Tiebreakers, if necessary, will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the Page Playoff 1-2 and 3-4 games at 7 p.m. The semifinal is set for 9 a.m. on Sunday, followed by the championship game at 2 p.m.
