Residents bask in a Victorian-era Christmas

Organizers say over 1,500 people attend the event each year.

REGINA - Christmas is less than a month away, and many Regina residents got a taste of an older style of Christmas during the Victorian-era Christmas at the Government House on Friday.

The event offers a unique look at the history of the 1800s and 1900s while offering music, activities and more.

Eric Schmalz, Minister Responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission, said in a news release, "Government House is all dressed up in its finest holiday apparel to welcome visitors."

Visitors are treated to an appearance by Santa Claus himself, with his wife, Mrs. Claus, also in attendance.

According to Schmalz, the event draws over 1,500 people each year as individuals witness the history of Saskatchewan.

The Victorian-era Christmas runs until 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
