Adam Hicks was elected his third-term as Public School Board Trustee for Subdivision 3.

REGINA - The board of Regina Public School Division has held their first organizational meeting back since the municipal election, and changes are coming to the leadership of the board.

The board has elected Adam Hicks as the new Chair by acclamation.

Hicks, who was re-elected in Subdivision 3, will take over from Sarah Cummings Truszkowski who will continue to represent Subdivision 5 but is stepping away after being Board Chair for the past year.

As well, re-elected Subdivision 7 trustee Lacey Weekes has been elected by acclamation to be the Vice-Chairperson. Both Hicks and Weekes are to serve in their roles until the 2025 organization meeting.

The meeting itself on Nov. 19 was an organizational one, where the new Board also set the dates for regular meetings as well as establish committees. The board’s next regular meeting is Dec. 10.

Unlike the recent vote for Regina city council, which saw a new Mayor and eight new councillors elected, many familiar faces have returned to the public board. In addition to those trustees just mentioned, also returning to the Board of Trustees are Ted Jaleta in Subdivision 1, Tracey MacMurchy in Subdivision 2, and Cindy Anderson in Subdivision 4. The only new member of the Board is Brandon-Shea Mutala who was the winner in Subdivision 6.

The elections for the new Board took place Nov. 13 and full official results for all the races have been posted on the City of Regina’s website.
