ASSINIBOIA - As Canada Day festivities across the province and country attract attendees, organizers of Assiniboia’s July 1 event encourage local residents to celebrate at home.
The itinerary for Canada Day in Assiniboia will keep participants busy right from 9 a.m. and continuing throughout the entire day, offering something for everyone of all ages.
Assiniboia’s 2024 Canada Day festivities include a full lineup of activity, starting with a free pancake breakfast at the Co-op food store from 9 to 11 a.m. Everyone loves a parade and the organizing committee is lining up another strong showcase of entries starting at 11 a.m., reminding residents there is always room for more parade entries.
The afternoon, from 1 to 5 p.m., will be busy with activity for all generations. Families can take part in bouncy houses, face painting and balloon twisting for the afternoon in Centennial Park, while adults can try their hand at axe throwing. A trade show will be held on the tennis courts and there will be carnival games.
The afternoon will also include a car show, Kawacatoose dancers from 1 to 2 p.m., Badlands Country Band from 2 to 4 p.m., a smoker cook-off from 11 to 4 p.m. and a beverage gardens. There will also be free swimming from noon to 8 p.m.
Canada Day isn’t complete without celebratory fireworks. The always popular pyrotechnics show will once again close out the day at the fairgrounds.
Organized activity in Assiniboia gives people a chance to stay home and enjoy a Canada Day event in their home community, while also inviting visitors to come and join them for the fun. It is an excellent opportunity to showcase all Assiniboia has to offer.
