Weyburn students launch 25th JA company, will be selling candles

Luminate is a Junior Achievement company created by the Entrepreneurship 30 class at Weyburn Comprehensive School, comprised of 21 students.

The student board of 鈥淟uminate鈥, the newest Junior Achievement company for the Weyburn Comp鈥檚 Entrepreneurship 30 class, was launched on Wednesday; in the top row from left are Ashton Sanguin, Cris Shipley, Jack Vogel, Acacia Wanner, Conner Bildstein, Zailey Milewicz and Emmanuel Pallarca. WEYBURN – Luminate is a Junior Achievement company created by the Entrepreneurship 30 class at Weyburn Comprehensive School, comprised of 21 students, and it was launched at their first board meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

The company sells eco-friendly soy wax, wood wick candles which will be available with the scents vanilla, lavender, morning serenity and coconut, with positive affirmations printed on the jar to promote positivity.

The students will also have exclusive candles available for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Graduation 2024, with positive affirmations related to each one, as well as different scents for each special day.

The scents used in the candles also make them stand out since they are using high quality, great smelling scents that will be sure to make any area smell good.

The candles will be sold in eight-ounce glass jars, packaged in gift bags with tissue paper and sold for $20 each.

At the end of the semester, 10 per cent of the profits will be donated to Envision Counselling and Support Centre in Weyburn.

The students in this JA company include Ashton Sanguin, Cris Shipley, Jack Vogel, Acacia Wanner, Conner Bildstein, Zailey Milewicz, Emmanuel Pallarca, Bailey Burnett, Yuan Presto, Emily Edwards, Jonas Burdan, Jayden Stang, Maximus Kilback, Jof Regidor, Anushka Raulji, Harriet Segaya, Kelsie Arthur, Max Crane and co-presidents Owen Klein and Kaitlin Demchynski.

The mentors for the company are Twila Walkeden, former manager of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, and Teresa Lafoy of Community Futures Sunrise.

For teacher Margot Arnold, this will be her last JA company, as she is retiring at the end of this school year. This will be the 25th JA company since incorporating the Junior Achievement program in 2014 into her Entrepreneurship 30 class.
