Weyburn fire department reports 15 calls in February

WEYBURN - Weyburn fire department has provided its latest monthly report to city council, scheduled for their meeting March 10.

According to that report, there were a total of 15 calls for service in February including one structure fire that was deemed to be accidental. 

Of the 15, 14 were in the City of Weyburn and included ten remote fire alarm, one alarm bell ringing, one carbon monoxide alarm, one structure fire, and one community service call, while there was one rural call of a vehicle fire. To date there have been forty total responses for 2025.

There have also been building inspections. The fire department reports one commercial building was closed the next day under the Fire Safety Act over “life safety concerns” within the building. Two other commercial buildings were also inspected in February.

The fire department also reports there was one high-risk occupancy which had ignored all inspection reports and visits and had not attempted to correct code violations. A reinspection was scheduled for March 10.
