WEYBURN – Prairie Sky Co-op had $93.55 million in sales in 2024 and allocated $1.1 million to its members in 2024, board members heard during their 96th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on April 15.
Co-op members have received $24 million in the last 10 years and $60 million in cash back from the co-op in their 95 years of operation.
Prairie Sky Co-op continues to invest in its local communities, donating to a wide range of causes including youth, healthcare, sport, the arts and more. They donated $221,000 to local causes in 2024. They were able to support 180 local groups. Each month they support five local programs.
The board passed a motion to amend By-Law 6.08, requiring 90 per cent of commodities intended for resale that Federated Co-op Limited supplies or makes available from an approved source from or through Federated Co-op (FCL). The bylaw amendment was presented by Jim Linnell. Nick Coroluick made a motion to pass the amendment, and it was seconded by Gary Erickson.
Elections were held and directors Stella Swertz and Leanne Anderson were re-elected, alongside new director Twyla Walkington (three-year term) and Manny Ofalla (two-year term). Brett Ferguson was re-elected for a second term to the FCL Board of Directors.
President Swertz thanked outgoing director Gary Erickson and highlighted challenges, including cybersecurity disruptions, renovations, and reduced FCL allocations.
General Manager Kevin Arthur gave the general manager’s report and highlighted upgrades, including new fuel dispensers, car wash systems, and the ongoing Weyburn Food Store renovation (set for completion mid-2025). He also acknowledged retiring Maintenance Manager Richard Carrier after 24 years of service.
