Walter (Wally) Winarsky of Weyburn, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Walter was predeceased by his parents, Stefan and Pauline Winarsky; brothers John and Mike Winarsky and sisters, Anne Pretula and Stephanie Godhe. Wally was born to Stefan and Pauline, a pair of hard working Ukrainian immigrants, on September 4, 1929 in Ponass Lake. The Winarsky's established a farm near Paswegian, where the family grew to a total of eight children. Walter had two brothers and five sisters. He would later find work as a welder in Hamilton, Ontario and while living in Hamilton he managed to convince a Saskatchewan girl who had caught his eye to join him in Ontario. Wally and Berit were married in 1954 and soon returned to their beloved Saskatchewan where Wally secured work as a welder for SaskPower. Wally loved the outdoors and passed on his love of hunting and fishing and all "things outdoors" to his children and grandchildren. Those who knew him will miss his stories, his wise advice and his love. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Berit Winarsky of Weyburn; daughter Gale (Greg) Neufeld of Delta, British Columbia and their family, Chad (Jennie and son, Zachary) and Amanda; son, Alan (Patti) of Saskatoon and their family, Benjamin, Krista, Nicholas and Natasha; son, Robert, (Elizabeth) of Calgary, Alberta and their family, Joshua, Joseph and Rebecca; son, David of Weyburn; sisters, Nell Rolski, Mary Harden and Grace McLean as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. The Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, September 2 at 2:00 pm from Silver Heights Bible Church, Weyburn with Pastor Larry Rempel officiating. Interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn.
