Walter Glen Webb passed away at Regina General Hospital, Regina, SK on the 12th of September, 2013, in the company of his loving family. He was 89 years old. Walter was predeceased by his parents, William and Florence Webb; wife, Eva Gordon; four sisters, Dorothy Frank, Marjorie Huzina, Eileen Williams, Kathleen Nesvold and brother, Danny Webb. Walter was born to William and Florence Webb on November 15, 1923 on Section 18, Township 7, Range 20, West of 2nd, Saskatchewan. He grew up and received his education in Amulet. Walter completed his Grade 11 as well as further training in the air force. Walter served in the RCAF as a tail gunner in a Lancaster Bomber during World War II. After leaving the RCAF in 1945, Walter farmed for a few years then worked at various other jobs until rejoining RCAF in 1951 and remained until 1957. After leaving the air force he worked for CN Telegraph until his retiring in 1988. Walter married Eva Gordon on October 28, 1958 in Prince George, BC and they remained together until her passing in 1994. In 1964 Walter and Eva settled with their family in Terrace, BC and he remained there until moving back to Saskatchewan in 2002. Walter was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed hockey, football, baseball and curling and as a young man he played baseball and curled. Walter will be lovingly remembered by his son, Philip Webb of Merritt, BC and his children, Braidy and Karlee Webb; son, James Webb of Kitimat, BC; sisters, Jenny Nelson and Mary Dowell; brothers, Tom (Julia) Webb, Ernie (Jessie) Webb and David (Jean) Webb as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, September 17 at 2:00 PM from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 47, Weyburn with Reverend John Ferrier officiating. A Legion Honour Guard was in attendance. Interment took place on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Walter may be made to the Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation.
