With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Verner Emde, late of Midale. Verner passed away on May 22, 2012 at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Fredrich and Bertha Emde; parents-in-law Cressie and Winnie Ward and brothers-in-law Dennis Peterson and Larry Erick. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years Sharron; three daughters Rhonda (Neil) Martinson, Kara, Megan, and Jordan; Lana (Greg) King, Morgan and Brayden and Valda (Randy) Nakonechni, Austin and Sydney; sister Margaret Peterson; sisters-in-law Marlene (Roy) Sjostrand, Lois Erick, Verla (Don) Baillie; brother-in-law Blaine (Melanie) Ward and several nieces and nephews. Verner was born on the family farm on November 12, 1928. He was a grain and hog farmer. He was a farmer at heart and always looked forward to the spring of every year when the seeds were put into the ground and harvest time when he could see the fruits of his labour. He was involved on the Midale Credit Union Board, Wheat Pool Board and served as Treasurer at St. Lukes Lutheran Church for many years. For 25 years he served on the Weyburn School Division Board, serving as Chairman for several of those. Verner was rooted strong in his faith and family, both of which were present at the time of his passing. Visitation took place on Friday, May 25 from 7:00 to 9:00pm at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 26 from Zion Lutheran Church in Weyburn with Pastor Cicely McDougall officiating.
