Theresa Katherina Carter

Theresa Katherina Carter (nee Ortman) late of Weyburn, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Theresa was born in Odessa, on December 18, 1923 and was the eldest of five children. She grew up on a farm in Khedive, and attended school in Ceylon, before moving to Khedive to continue her education. Theresa was married to Elwin Carter on May 11, 1942 in Khedive, where they started their life together. Dwight came into their world in 1956 and as a family they moved to Weyburn in 1958. Theresa was a florist at Murray's House of Flowers (now known as Brady's) in Weyburn for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo as a regular outing. Together Theresa and Elwin enjoyed many years of dancing, camping and fishing. She also enjoyed family gatherings with her siblings and planned a summer vacation every year. Theresa was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and St. Mary's Altar Society. She also belonged to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish in Weyburn. Theresa volunteered her time for baking and serving at funeral luncheons at McKenna Hall whenever she was asked until she was no longer able to. Theresa and Elwin enjoyed 44 years together until his passing in 1986. In 1987 she met Lloyd Fisher. Theresa enjoyed helping Lloyd on his farm wherever she could. Together they planted and tended a large garden. Theresa continued to do the things she loved, cooking, cleaning and visits with families and friends. Together with Lloyd she enjoyed holidays and daily outings until their health no longer allowed it. Theresa and Lloyd were together until 2011, at which time their health declined and they were no longer able to take care of each other. Theresa moved into the Radville Marian Health Centre until her passing on October 8, 2012. Theresa's family, Lloyd's family and their friends meant the world to her. She loved watching her three grandchildren and six great grandchildren grow. She was a caring and loving person. We would like to thank our family and friends for taking such good care of Theresa.
