Russell Stafford Olson passed away peacefully October 22, 2014 at the age of 77. Russ was born July 31, 1937 on the farm at Hume to Reuben and Gladys Olson, one of six children.聽 After Grade 12 he went to Teacher鈥檚 College and then spent his entire teaching career in Weyburn. Russ taught Grade 6 at all four of the public elementary schools in Weyburn and retired as principal of Elgin school in 1986. He kept busy working part time at Weyburn This Week and Wal-Mart. Russ was well known for his contribution at the Weyburn Communithon as well as with 鈥淭he Entertainers鈥� at venues all over the city. Russ is survived by Beth, his wife of 51 years; daughter, Debbie (Glynn) Gooding; son, Doug (Nadine) Struthers; daughter, Nancy (Myles) Keyowski; daughter,聽 Lisa (Greg) Peters;聽 grandchildren,聽 Danno Peters, Olivia Keyowski and Katie Keyowski;聽 siblings, Roger (Elaine) Olson, Wayne Olson, Donna Ebenal, Myrna Wagner, Ardis (Rock) Beaton. Russ also had numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeased by his daughter, Linda Struthers; parents, Reuben Olson and Gladys Pederson; mother and father-in-law, Hugh and Maryann Drolet; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Isabelle Olson, Gene Ebenal, Gary Wagner, Leonard Drolet, Mervin Drolet and Hilda Drolet. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn with Reverends John Ferrier and Bob Wilson officiating.
