It is with heavy hearts that we announce Ron's passing on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. He is lovingly cherished by his wife of 50 years, Rita Springer (nee Spicer); daughter: Ramona Springer (Giovanni Nicoletti) and granddaughter Valentina of Calgary; son, Richard Springer and granddaughter, Alicia of Vulcan, AB; son, Robert Springer (Calla Lee) of Nanaimo, BC; brother, Mervin (Elaine) Springer of Medicine Hat, nieces and nephews: Jack (Claire) Springer of Ontario, Sandra Parsons of Medicine Hat, Gary Springer of Medicine Hat, Bruce (Bianca) Springer of Regina, Susan Horn of Medicine Hat and many great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Edith Spicer of Moose Jaw; brother-in-law, Wayne (Eva) Spicer of Regina; nephew, Steven (Bridget) Spicer, grandniece, Brooklyn of Regina, niece, Patricia Spicer of Medicine Hat and brother-in-law, Floyd Spicer of Crane Valley. He was predeceased by his father, Clarence Clark Springer; mother, Cleo Margaret North; stepfather, Stanley North; father-in-law, George Spicer and sister-in-law, Pat Spicer. Ron was born on February 9, 1937 in Colgate, and grew up in rural Saskatchewan. He studied accounting and graduated with his chartered accountant degree, articled in Weyburn. Ron worked at Western Tractor in Regina. He also achieved the position of head of Finance in Calgary's Oil & Gas industry with Petermark and Blue Sky. Ron was the owner of BDC computer analysis business, Derek Oil and RW Springer Investments. He enjoyed his many hours volunteering at the Bethany Care Centre on the Board of Directors. Ron enjoyed working on his computer, gardening, sports, buying and selling on the stock market and his yearly travels to Maui with Rita. His passion for income tax was always apparent; he was never happier than when he was elbow high in tax! Ron will always be remembered for his good nature and generosity. A Celebration of Ron's Life was held in the Chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home on Friday, August 16 with Pastor Richard Graham of the Harvest Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Everlasting Life, Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined.
