Ronald Blair Collins ‘Papa’

Sadly Ron passed away November 20, 2016 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Born in Moose Jaw September 22, 1958, Ron graduated from Central Collegiate. He married Alison Ealey July 19, 1979 in Moose Jaw. In 1986 they moved to Fillmore, where they owned and operated a service station. For the past ten years, he worked for Jerry Mainil Ltd. in Weyburn. Ron was predeceased by his brother Greg and mother Colette. He is survived by his loving wife Alison and sons Brice (Meaghan), Devin (Angie), and Blake; father Emmett; brothers Dale (son Jordan), Brian, and Gil; mother-in-law Myrna Ealey and brothers-in-law Mark (Barb), Clayton (Gayle) and Jeff; special nieces Britney (children Gavin and Gabriella) and Samantha; special cousin Jerome and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ron loved life and lived every moment to the fullest. He cherished his family and enjoyed many happy moments camping, boating, quading, fishing, hunting, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and refurbishing an old half-ton truck. He was also a talented handyman and woodworker. A passionate Blue Jays fan, Ron had the opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream when he attended a Blue Jays series in Toronto this year. His pride and joy were his four grandchildren – Mea, Laurali, Brody, and Hailey who helped keep him young and on his toes. The family would like to thank the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic and the Oncology, Critical Care, and Emergency units at Royal University Hospital for the exceptional care Ron received on his journey. Special thanks to Drs. Sabry and Assem. Graveside service will be held Friday, November 25, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Limerick. A come and go lunch will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Limerick Hall. Donations in memory of Ronald may be made to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.
