It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of (Robert) Ivan Beare of Fillmore, September 3, 2016, at the Pasqua Hospital at the age of 86 years. Ivan was predeceased by his wife, Leona, parents, Harvey and Luella Beare, his brothers, Alvin and Garfield, and sister, Enid Stewart. Ivan is survived by and will be dearly missed by his four children:聽 Roderick (Debbie) Beare of Fillmore, children and grandchildren; Leanna (Ian) Pickering of Melfort and their children, Amy聽 Pickering (fianc茅 Jevin Barton) of Saskatoon, Carlee Pickering, Melfort and Erin Pickering, Melfort; Claude (Joanne) Beare of Fillmore, his son Cordelle Carlberg of Regina, and their daughters Caitlyn and Miya, Fillmore; Camilla Armstrong of Innisfail, AB, and her children, Brittany Armstrong of Red Deer, AB, Brandon Armstrong of Lethbridge, AB, and Alyssa, Nathan, Amber, Jayde and Ashton Armstrong, all of Innisfail. Ivan is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ivan was born March 24, 1930, the youngest of four children of Harvey and Luella Beare. He obtained his education at Freewill, a country school a few miles from where he lived, northeast of Fillmore. He farmed with his brothers and father for many years. On June 8, 1953, Ivan married Leona Perras of Montmartre, and continued farming. He was active in the 4-H Beef Club and was the leader from 1954 to 1957. Ivan and Leona moved to their own homestead in 1963 and worked tirelessly developing their mixed farming operation. They continued to raise cattle and grain farm, and expanded to add ponies, chickens, goats and peacocks. They scaled back their farming involvement in 1993 and considered themselves semi-retired, but continued to live on the farm. Ivan dearly loved his four children and 13 grandchildren.聽 He and Leona cherished spending time with them and attended as many of their events as possible. Ivan and Leona were very active with square dancing, old time dancing, and playing bridge. They were members of the Weyburn Dance Club for over 40 years. Ivan enjoying socializing, and had many dear and special friends. Ivan and Leona also loved to travel and had many wonderful vacations together and with family. Ivan and Leona were married for almost 60 years, until her sudden passing in 2013. Ivan was heartbroken but he remained living on the farm, and was even swathing during harvest time of 2015 until his health would no longer permit him to continue.聽 On December 1, 2015, he made the decision to leave his beloved farm and move to Hill Top Manor in Weyburn where he lived until his passing. Ivan always had a big smile, and continued to have his positive outlook and upbeat attitude no matter what the situation. The family would like to thank the staff of the Pasqua Hospital for the care Ivan received while there on his final day. They would also like to thank the staff at the Weyburn General Hospital and the Fillmore Health Center for the care he received during his stays at various times over the聽 years. Thank you to the staff聽 and residents of聽 Hill Top Manor for making his time there special and meaningful.聽 Ivan was a kind, honest, loyal man and will be sadly missed by all. A Celebration of Life for Ivan was held Friday, September 9, at 2:00 p.m. from Fillmore United Church, with Sharon Elliott officiating. Interment followed at Fillmore Cemetery.
