Reneaud Roy

Reneaud Roy was born February 12, 1924 to Joseph and Alice Roy on a farm at Glentworth, in a sod shack with a mid-wife in attendance. Reneaud passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 17, 2014 at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased by his parents, premature twin sons, six sisters, three more brothers as well as numerous in-laws. Reneaud received his schooling in a country school and would eventually take over farming his mother's land. While living in the Glentworth area, Reneaud met his future wife, Eleanore Popescul, who had come to Glentworth to teach school. They met at a dance and were married December 17, 1953. Together they raised three children and would spend 60 years together. Reneaud was always sure to bring Eleanore the first crocuses he saw every spring. Soon after marriage they left his mother's farm and moved to Weyburn where he was employed at Barber Motors. In the spring of 1954, with Ron Barber's help they returned to farming in the Innes area. Reneaud liked everything about farming and nature and continued to farm the same land for the next forty years. There were good times and bad times but together the family continued to farm until 1995, when their son, Maurice, took over the farm and they retired to Weyburn. Reneaud spent that last two years in the Crocus Plains Villa Nursing Home. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Eleanore of Weyburn; sons, Maurice (Colleen) of Weyburn and Marcel (Catherine Wheeler) of Weyburn; daughter, Colette (Leroy) Roy Krueger of Fort St. John, BC; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; two great granddaughters; two great grandsons as well as many nieces and nephews. Prayers were said on Sunday, July 20 at 7:30 PM and the Funeral Service on Monday, July 21 at 10:30 AM. Services were held at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn with Father Gerry Bauche officiating at both. Interment took place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. Pallbearers were, Jason Roy, Tamara Roy, Aidan Roy, Richard Roy, Jordan Langeler and James Wheeler. Donations in memory of Reneaud may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Condolences may be left at: www.fletcherfuneralchapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, 306-842-5432
