Raymond Kenneth Adolph Heebner

Raymond Kenneth Adolph Heebner passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the age of 82 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Adolph and Anna (Dorwart) Heebner; sister, Evelyn Schlop; brothers-in-law, Martin Schlop, Lloyd Soroka, Art Jennings, Ernie Schuck, Walter Smishek and sisters-in-law, Clara Schuck and Helen Schuck. Raymond was born December 5, 1934 to Adolph and Anna Heebner, their youngest and only son. He grew up on the family farm. Raymond began farming at the tender age of 15 and purchased his first quarter section at the age of 18. He also worked as a welder with Ed Hicki at the blacksmith shop in Weyburn. On July 20, 1956 Raymond married Helen 鈥淒olly鈥 Schuck and together they continued farming until his retirement in 1987 at the age of 71. Raymond and Dolly stayed on the farm until 2006 when they moved into Weyburn. Raymond had a variety of interests: sports, gardening, camping, fishing, riding his snowmobile, machinery, welding, watching his grandchildren, travelling, singing in the church choir, men鈥檚 chorus and with the family. As a very young boy during the Second World War, Raymond sang for the troops in training at the Weyburn Airport. He was active in his community with 4-H, curling, Agricultural Society and as a R.M. counselor. Raymond was also active with the Zion Lutheran Church Council. On July 20 of last year, Raymond and Dolly celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the Island Lake Lodge in Fernie, British Columbia. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Dolly Heebner of Weyburn; daughter, Carla (Don) Erichsen of Cranbrook, BC and their daughters, Brianne (Dave), Jordanne and Adrianne; son, Paul Heebner of Regina; daughter, Tanya Heebner (Bill Pittman) of Weyburn, and their daughters, Kiera and Reece; daughter, Ramona (Taka) Iida of Weyburn, and their son, Tensei; sisters, Arvella Soroka and Edna Jennings; sisters-in-law, Ruth Smishek and Rae Schuck; brother-in-law, Art Schuck, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service was held Thursday, March 2, at 2:00 p.m. from Zion Lutheran Church with Marjorie McLeod, CLA officiating. Honourary Pallbearers were all those in attendance. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, at a later date. Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
