Paul Moldenhauer

Paul Moldenhauer, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the age of 79 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Elias and Frances Moldenhauer; daughter-in-law, Norma Moldenhauer; sister, Betty Lanz; father-in-law, Willard Eagles; mother-in-law, Ina (John) Rolfs; Karen’s twin, Kenny Eagles; sisters-in-law, Tilley Moldenhauer and Roberta Rolfs in infancy; brothers-in-law, John Ruckaber, Ken Williamson, Dave Coghill and Terry Eagles. Paul was born at Lancer, Saskatchewan on July 27, 1937 and raised in a family of five in the Port Reeve and Prelate area. His father, Elias, passed away when Paul was 14 years old. This left Paul and his brothers the immense task of taking off the crop that year. His mother, Frances remarried and moved the family to Midale in 1953. Paul married Karen Eagles on June 30, 1960 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Weyburn. He was a heavy duty mechanic and loved his work and spent many planting and harvesting seasons helping farmers keep their machinery going.   Paul lived in the Halbrite and Weyburn area for much of his life. He served as counsellor and mayor of Halbrite, coached little league ball and served on the hall board for several years. Paul loved to fix things, go antiquing, curling and in his younger years raced stock cars and won several trophies. Paul was happily married for 56 years. Karen and Paul enjoyed dancing and travelling through the mountains. He enjoyed taking his family tobogganing, to the beach and camping on Vancouver Island. He was a great fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. Paul firmly believed in a creator and lived the best life he could and he will be greatly missed by family and friends.  Paul will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Karen Moldenhauer of Moose Jaw; son, Deno Moldenhauer (Analie) of Comox, BC; daughter, Shelley (Blaine) Paul of Carnduff; son, Ranie (Carla) Moldenhauer of Gull Lake, AB; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brothers, Jack Moldenhauer and Lawrence (Dahlila) Moldenhauer; sister, Rose Anne (Wayne) Wilkins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank Lanz, Shirley Ruckaber, Bill (Barb) Eagles, Darlene Williamson, Barry Eagles, Connie Coghill, John (Joan) Rolfs, Graham Rolfs, Barbara (Calvin) Dean, Keith Rolfs; mother-in-law, Betty Eagles as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A Memorial Gathering was held on Wednesday, September 28, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. Interment will take place at a later date.
