Norma Jean Lewis

Jean was born and raised near Weyburn. After obtaining her teacher’s degree, her first teaching position was at Colgate. On August 17, 1960, she and Darcy Lewis were married. They moved from Colgate making their home and raising their family in Maple Creek and Cypress Hills. Jean excelled at things she loved to do, like teaching, cooking, shopping, handcrafting, growing flowers, lending a helping hand, travelling and visiting. Her greatest love, however, was her family and her home at Cypress Hills. Predeceased by her parents, Norman and Verdella Herring, her in-laws Herbert and Mary Lewis, son-in-law Larry Westergard, and sister-in-law Ella Lewis, Jean is survived by her loving husband, Darcy; their children Nancy (Mark) Koenig, Jason (Lisa Dart) and Valerie (Antonio) Ledezma; beloved grandchildren: Tony, Andrew, Tyler, Hayden, Lauren, Kallen, Marin and Roman and great granddaughter, Scarlett; her brother Jerry (Dolores) Herring and Darcy’s brothers Delmar (Monetta) Dahlton, Dick (Karen) and sister Judy Dembiczak, as well as a wealth of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will remember her fondly. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral. A memorial tea will be held at a later date. Donations on her honor can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
