Myrtle Doreen Mowles, late of Weyburn, passed away March 12, 2014, at the age of 90 years. Myrtle Mowles was born on September 26, 1923. Myrtle is predeceased by her parents George (1971) Stella 1990; brothers: Garfield (1940), Laurence (1941), Jackie (1945), Hugh (2011); her sister Jenny Smallwood (1952); sisters-in-law: Beverley Graham (1996), Allene Graham (2000), Carol Graham (2009); brothers-in-law: Edwin Fraser (1996) Dave Hemphill (2005), Ron Burnie (2012) and Tom Corcoran (2013). Myrtle is survived by her husband of 69 years, Art Mowles; daughter Darlene (Neil) McLaren; grandson Travis McLaren; son Jerry (Sharon) Smallwood; grandsons Jeff and Jerry Jr. Smallwood; sisters: Isabelle Hemphill, Margaret (Gordon) Robinson, Mae Corcoran, Carol (Vern) Lindsey, Violet (Marcel) Stocker; brothers: Bob (Betty) Graham, Don (Charlene) Graham and George Graham. Numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces, nephews and cousins. Myrtle was the first of 14 children born to George and Stella in Regina on September 26, 1923. On December 14, 1944 She and Art married in Heward. Myrtle and Art farmed in the Heward District until 1992, They moved to Weyburn 1993. They enjoyed square dancing and attended dances near and far. Myrtle was a life-time member of the Stoughton Legion Auxillary. She was proud to carry the flag on Remembrance Day and at many parades. She was a life-time member of Hewards Ladies' Curling Club and Secretary of Heward Board of Trade. Myrtles hobbies included sewing, cooking, gardening and crocheting. A Celebration of Life for Myrtle was held on Wednesday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. from Stoughton Legion Hall, Stoughton. Interment to be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Myrtle may be made to the Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation, Box 1416, Weyburn, SK S4H 3J9, or the Weyburn Humane Society, Box 1062 - 57 19th St., Weyburn, SK, S4H 2L3.
