Millie Ballard, late of Weyburn, passed away Wednesday October 10, 2012, at the age of 74 years. Millie was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Christina; her husband, Harvey; brothers: Wilbert and Donald; niece, Patricia Postey. Millie is survived by her son, Lyle (Marion) Ballard, Weyburn; grandchildren: Boyd (Jessica) and their son, [Brady], Oklahoma, USA, Laura (Mark) Missal and their children [Nate and Nash], Grand Cayman Islands, Rhett (Janelle) and their son, [Huxley], Vernon, BC; brothers: George Sloman, Hazenmore, Robert (Kate) Sloman, Swift Current, Wesley (Barbara) Sloman, Swift Current; sisters: Elsie Postey, Weyburn, Shirley Sloman, Regina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Millie was born on June 5, 1938 at Kincaid. She attained her schooling in Aneroid, and then attended Normal School in Moose Jaw. Millie started teaching in 1957 in Francis and retired after having taught for 33 years. Millie coached and enjoyed playing girls ball. In 1968, she married Harvey Ballard and together they took up farming. She enjoyed the farm life, gardening and her dogs, especially "Kim". Millie was active in the United Church and was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, Weyburn Branch #47. She was an avid Roughrider fan and a long time season ticket holder. Millie also enjoyed traveling to her grandchildren's sporting events. The family would like to thank the Weyburn General Hospital nurses and staff, Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Regina General Hospital for all the care that was given to her. A private family funeral service for Millie was held at RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. Interment will take place at a later date at Francis Cemetery.
