Michael Legin, late of Weyburn passed away peacefully on February 20, 2013, after a full 100 years of life. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Marie Legin; his children: Frank, Jim, Caroline (McGillivray) and Ron; his sister, Antonia Dobrowalski; son-in-law, Allan McGillivray; sisters-in-law: Bette Mitchell and Mary Armit; brothers-in-law, Nick Huminicki and Peter Dobrowalski. Michael is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 74 years, Annie; his sister, Olga Huminicki; brothers-in-law: Ron Mitchell and Peter (Karol) Hammer; daughter-in-law, Vi Legin; his grandchildren: Adrian (Shelly) Legin, Cindy (Denis) Bourdeau, Tim McGillivray, Heather (Duane) Weir, Michael (Tina) McGillivray, Brian (Tracy) McGillivray, Leah (Robert) Sidloski and Michael Paul Legin as well as19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mike emigrated to Canada from the Ukraine when he was 12 years old. He worked as a cattle buyer, store clerk, and as a C.P.R. man, but settled into farming after marrying Annie in 1938. Mike grew to love farming and worked the land until he was 80 years old. After retirement, Mike stayed as active as he could for as long as he could - gardening and caring for his yard with determined perserverence. Mike enjoyed good books, crossword puzzles and cards. Above all, he was most satisfied when he engaged in a great political or historical debate punctuated by a good pipe. He loved a visit from all who came to see him and always lit up at the sight of his great-grandchildren. Prayers for Michael were held on Sunday, February 24 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn. Funeral mass was held on Monday, February 25 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn with Fr. Gerry Bauche, celebrant. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Honorary Pallbearers were Ken Skjonsby, John Sidloski, Jim Brown and Blake Tillison. Active Pallbearers were Michael McGillivray, Brian McGillivray, Tim McGillivray, Adrian Legin, Duane Weir, Robert Sidloski and Mike Legin.
