Michael Edward Wanner, late of Weyburn, passed away Monday October 8, 2012, at the age of 87 years. Michael was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Berniece; brothers: Kasper, Joseph (Little Joe), Jake and Joe; sisters: Julia, Emily, Justine, Madeline, Clara, Edythe and Ronli (Rose). He leaves to mourn his son, Richard (Marjorie) their son, Darren and his children: Josh and Sydney; daughter, Terry (Al); his daughter, Wendy (Gord) and their daughters: Krista (Matt) and their children Avani and Noah; Michele (Dan) and their children: Ethan and Ryan; son, Evan; sisters: Margaret and Caryl; sister-in-law, Mary as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael was born on a farm just east of Weyburn, the youngest of 14 children. After several moves, the family settled on a farm north of Weyburn. Dad proudly raised 62 crops before retiring in 2006. He was a dedicated member of the local committee and on the Board of Directors of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool as well as a director of the Co-operators Insurance Company. Mike will be remembered for his quiet strength and his dedication to duty. Any bump in the road was accepted and dealt with calmly and with resolution. He was a favorite uncle as attested to by the many visits or phone calls on special occasions or when family members came to town. We would like to express our appreciation to Susan Grohn and staff at Eden Homes as well as the staff of House 1 at Tatagwa View. The care of our father was exemplary. Thanks to you all! Prayers were held on Thursday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. Funeral Mass was held on Friday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. from St.Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, with Father Gerry Bauche, celebrant. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Active pallbearers were Brian Nast, Bill Morris, Edward Pretty, Raymond Pretty, Don Stone and Matthew Stone. All in attendance were considered honorary pallbearers. For family and friends so wishing, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael may be made to a Charity of Choice.
