Marlene Annette Pierce, late of Weyburn, passed away May 2, 2016, at the age of 81 years. Marlene was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Terry Pierce, March 19, 2016; parents: Ed and Blenda Raknerud; in-laws: Worthy and Anna Pierce, Winnie Wanner; brother and sister-in-law: Gordon and Delores Raknerud; brother-in-law Al Wickman. Marlene is survived by her children: Marence (Charlene) Pierce, Nancy Kopec, Sue (Dwight) Achen; grandchildren: Worthy (Krista Reinfelds) Pierce; Terry (Sarah) Pierce, Kari (Dustin) Rouse, Ron (Vanna) Kopec, Michelle Sabourin, Gary (Sheena) Kopec, Tracy Kopec, Mike (Jennelle Periard) Church; Sarah (Dustin) Satre;聽 great grandchildren: Jayla, Hanna, and Rhett Pierce, Hunter, Houston, Branson and Bowen Kopec, Zoe and Connor Brooks, Wylie, Mekhi and Brinley Kopec, Brodie Sabourin, Jacia and Preston Roncin, Kitchener Satre; sister Elda Wickman;聽 sisters-in-law Gail (Tom) Minard, Sonya (Jim) Ennis; brother-in-law Clayton (Ruth) Pierce, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mom was born November 6, 1934 in Lake Alma to Ed and Blenda Raknerud. She was a little sister to Elda and Gordon. Gordon was so protective of her. The Raknerud聽 family lived in BC for a while then moved to the Maxim area. Mom took grades 1-3 at home as she came down with Rheumatic Fever. Her first job was candling eggs at the Co-op Creamery along with her sister, Elda. In 1950 Mom met Terry Pierce.聽 They were married June 29, 1952 at the family farm in Maxim. Mom and Dad built a house together on Second Avenue 麻豆视频. Mom worked at Fred鈥檚 Red & White Store until Dad opened Terry鈥檚 Repair. Mom and Dad worked side by side for 20 years. She learned parts and taught herself bookkeeping. They were fortunate to travel to Hawaii, Spain, Mexico, and spent many winters in California. Mom had the talent to play the accordion, piano and guitar but could not read a note. She could listen to a song once and play it. She loved watching figure skating, doing puzzles, playing bingo, word puzzles and knitting. Nine years ago, Mom suffered major health issues. Three and half years ago she was moved into House 3 at Tatagwa View. She developed a wonderful relationship with the caring staff. She was broken hearted when the love of her life, Terry, passed away March 19, 2016.聽 We take great comfort knowing she is back with Dad in heaven, no more pain and suffering. They were the best loving, patient parents we could ever have asked for. A Service of Remembrance for Marlene will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 2:00 pm from the Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, with Reverend John Ferrier officiating. Lunch will be at the Knox Fellowship Hall, 136-2nd Street, Weyburn,聽 interment taking place at a later date.
