Passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Providence Place in Moose Jaw. Marjorie, at the age of 96, is predeceased by her beloved husband Fred (1981), by her two infant sons, by her son-in-law Alan Vass (1996), by her great grandson Alexander Vass (2011) and by her five brothers and six sisters. She will be missed and her memory will be cherished by her daughter Pat Vass, her grandchildren Nathan, Tim and Blythe Vass, her brother Fred Dryhurst (Ruby) and by her numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Marjorie was born on March 9, 1916 in Forward, SK, to David and Beatrice Dryhurst. She grew up in Forward attending the Forward Public School. She worked for a time as a telephone operator in Forward before joining her sisters in the Okanagan Valley and working in the canneries there. She was joined a short while later by her childhood sweetheart Fred Jessop and the couple were married on March 1, 1944 in Vancouver, BC. Shortly after their honeymoon, Fred and Marjorie returned to Forward, where they farmed together on Fred's family farm and started their family. They moved to Pangman, SK., in 1955 and continued to farm until Fred's passing in 1981, after 37 years of a wonderful marriage. She and Fred loved company and enjoyed many years of having family meals at their home in Pangman. As a faithful member of the Pangman Bethel Mission, Marjorie was involved in many mission functions and ladies groups in the church and remained active there until a fall in 2005 led to her move to Moose Jaw where she could be closer to her daughter, Pat. She enjoyed a few years at the Mulberry Senior Living Centre, but later required more attentive care. A time of fellowship and visitation was held at Parkview Funeral Chapel October 31, from 5-7 p.m. Marjorie was laid to rest at the Regina Cemetery on Thursday, November 1, at 2:30 p.m. A Memorial Service was held at the Abundant Living Centre, in Pangman, November 2, at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Parkview Funeral Chapel.
