Margaret Elizabeth Lazurko, late of Weyburn, passed away July 22, 2012, at the age of 81 years. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Schmidt; husband, Steve; three sisters: Rose, Anne and Betty; six brothers: John, Joe, Frank, Phillip, Stephen and William. Margaret is survived by her children: Diane (Eugene) Byblow, Calgary, AB, David (Anne) Lazurko, Weyburn, SK; grandchildren: Sara, Anita, Logan and Maddy Lazurko; sisters and brothers: Rose (Frank) Loos, Weyburn, Norman Schmidt, Campbell River, BC, Peter Vogel, Courtney, BC, Marion Zerie, Horizon, along with several nieces and nephews. Margaret Elizabeth Lazurko was born on November 2, 1930 in Weyburn. She attended hairdressing school in Regina and worked in Weyburn as a hairdresser until she got married, she then worked at Eatons. On August 4, 1954 she married Steve Lazurko. Margaret raised two children and returned to work at the Dairy Queen and finally as a receptionist at Dr. Squires office until she retired. Margaret was a member of the CWL, Auxiliary Board for the nursing home and a member of the Red Hat Society. She enoyed bowling, swimming, sewing, cooking, reading, line dancing and attended mass daily. Prayers were held on Tuesday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn. Funeral mass for Margaret was held on Wednesday, July 25 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn with Fr. Gerry Bauche, celebrant. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Active pallbearers were Randy Schmidt, Don Schmidt, Ron Klein, Dale Zerie, Larry Lazurko and Brian Loos. For family and friends so wishing, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8. Arrangements were entrusted to RD Family Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Weyburn (848-0333 ~ 1-888-848-0333).
