Margaret Alice McCormick, late of Weyburn, passed away March 19, 2017, at the age of 76 years. Margaret was predeceased by her parents: Daniel and Dorothy Williams; sister Pat York; sister and brother-in-law: Sylvia and Bernie Kirkness; daughter-in-law Sylvia McCormick; brother-in-law Don Affleck; mother-in-law Gladys McCormick. Margaret is survived by her husband Calvin McCormick; children: Dan (Ann) and children: Kyle, Shane; Barry (Priscilla) and his children: Steven, Adam, Alexander, Rebecca; Randy; Joan (Maurice Casavant) and children: Kane, Koby, Reegan; Stacey; sisters: Jane Allary, Susan (Terry) Steadman; brothers-in-law Jim York, Murray (Elma) McCormick; sister-in-law Elaine Affleck; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Margaret was born June 20, 1940 in Weyburn, and took her schooling at Souris School. When she was young, she and her sisters would spend summers at Carlyle Lake at their grandparents鈥 cabin. Margaret married Calvin McCormick of Weyburn on November 8, 1958 and moved out to the country east of Weyburn. She was kept busy as a wife, mother, gardener, 4-H mom, homecraft leader and later went on to work as a nurses鈥 aide for 16 years at the Weyburn Special Care Home. After her retirement she took on one of her favorite roles as a loving grandmother. Margaret was an avid gardener and loved her flower gardens. She enjoyed tending to the abundance of flowers around the yard as well as at her cabin at Moosomin Lake. She and Calvin loved spending time at the lake where her sister Sylvia also had a cabin nearby. Margaret was not a big traveler but she enjoyed trips to BC to visit her sister Jane, a trip to Arizona and one to the Yukon and Alaska that she and Calvin enjoyed immensely. Margaret was a very kind, loving woman with a gentle spirit who loved the simpler things in life. She was truly happiest when she was surrounded by her family, close friends and beautiful flowers. She was one of a kind and will be dearly missed. A Service of Remembrance for Margaret was held Friday, March 24, at 2:00 p.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, with Reverend Jody Pfeifer officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were all in attendance. Lunch was held at the Knox Hall.聽 Interment will be held at a later date.
