Mabel Anna Robins, late of Weyburn, passed away October 17, 2012, at the age of 85 years, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Mabel was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Joseph Shoulak; her husband, Clarence Robins; son, Lloyd Robins; sisters: Amy Bergsteinsson, Elizabeth Blaine; brother, Clarence Shoulak, Francis Shoulak; sisters-in-law: Jeanette, Alma, Gloria and Annabelle.Mabel is survived by her children: Ralph Robins, Jay Robins, Joann Robins all of Weyburn; sister: Beryl Reitoma, Cranbrook, BC; sister-in-law, Marie Shoulak, Pilot Butte; two brothers-in-law: Robert "Bob" Robins, Sidney, BC; Gerald Robins, Prince Albert, SK; two special friends: Jeffery and Andrew Smoliak as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mabel was born and educated in Weyburn. She left the Weyburn Collegiate Institute to complete her mental health training at the Sask. Mental Hospital in Weyburn where she started her career as a mental health nurse. Mabel was known as compassionate and caring along with being very dedicated to her work. In 1988 she retired from her nursing career which lasted over 30 years. Throughout Mabel's life, her main interests included family and friends, playing cards, cooking, baking, knitting, needlepoint, crocheting and gardening. In her retirement Mabel was known to dangle many a fishing line in numerous lakes. Mabel was an avid fan and season ticket holder of the Weyburn Red Wings for years. She also developed a love for the Regina Roughriders and the Toronto Blue Jays. At this time, the Robins would like to thank the nursing staff in the Weyburn and Regina hospitals along with the doctors who cared for our mother in her final days. A service of remembrance for Mabel was held on Tuesday, October 23, at 11:00 a.m. from RD Family Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Rev. M. Barnabas, officiating. Interment followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn.
