Lois Ann Berg

At the age of 80 years, Lois Ann Berg of the Canora Gateway Lodge, went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2016. Lois was born June 29, 1935 to Peter and Orda (Blomberg) Burner at St. Joseph鈥檚 Hospital in Estevan, SK. She was raised on a farm south of Estevan, and attended Woodend District School. Eventually the family moved into Estevan, where Lois received her education from Valley View Public School and Estevan Collegiate. Upon completion of her schooling, Lois gained employment in Estevan as a SaskTel switchboard operator. She met her future husband, Hartley Berg, and they were united in marriage in 1958. They were blessed with their first son, Trent, in 1959. In 1963, a business opportunity brought Lois and family to Weyburn, SK, where Hartley owned a local trucking company, 鈥楤erg鈥檚 Transport.鈥 In 1966, Hartley and Lois welcomed their second son, Darcy. Lois became a dedicated homemaker and raised her cherished family.聽 Semi-retired in 1992, Lois and Hartley had a house built and moved to Spiritwood Acres. Lois worked part-time as a housekeeper at the Spiritwood Acres Villas until 1999, when they relocated to Canora. Lois loved her yard, especially her flower garden where she worked many enjoyable hours throughout the years, which resulted in her winning competitions in Weyburn as well as considerations in Canora. Additionally, Lois was a talented artist. Painting mostly scenic and wildlife portraits, her work was often proudly displayed at art exhibits in Weyburn. She was also a member of the Canora Arts Council. Lois was also an avid seamstress, sewing and making clothing. Together, Lois and Hartley loved to travel and enjoyed their trips to Mexico, the Bahamas, Florida and Las Vegas. Lois had a 鈥渟oft spot鈥 for cats and it seemed she always had one or more furry companions over the years. In July 2014, Lois became a resident of the Canora Gateway Lodge, where she continued to reside until her passing. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Lois was predeceased by her parents, Orda in 1968 and Peter in 1979; husband, Hartley in 2004; sister, Audry Butler in 1999; as well as her sister-in-law, Louise Berg and brother-in-law, Ron Spearing. She is survived by her sons, Trent Berg (Darcelle Lemaire) of Canora and Darcy Berg of Weyburn; brother, Raymond Burner of Estevan; sisters-in-law, Sharon Harde and Jan Berg; brothers-in-law, Keith Harde, Wayne Berg, and Gordon Butler, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Funeral Services commenced Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at 2:00 pm, from the Chapel of Leson鈥檚 Funeral Home, Canora, with Pastor Greg Bright officiating. Interment followed on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in the Souris Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Estevan.
