Leo Leonard Kopec

Leo Leonard Kopec was born on August 5, 1927 on a farm northeast of Cedoux and attended Cedoux School. He then helped his dad on the farm, and in the winter months would cut lumber in Ontario or work with his brother-in-law, Jack McLellan, in British Columbia. In 1952 Leo married Rose Plonka in the Holy Trinity Church at Cedoux. They remained on the family farm, where they raised six children. One of Leo鈥檚 greatest accomplishments was building a new house for his family. Farming was Leo鈥檚 life, from farming with his dad, to farming with his sons. One of his proudest moments was receiving the 鈥淐entury Family Farm鈥 award. The farm was always a gathering place, from playing cards to special occasions, many good memories were shared. In the late 80鈥檚 they spent the winter months travelling to Las Vegas, Reno, Disneyland, Florida, Texas and Mexico. In 1991 Leo and Rose retired to Weyburn. Leo still drove out to the farm and kept farming. In 2010 Leo鈥檚 health began to fail and in 2012 he moved into the Weyburn Special Care Home. Although his body was failing, his mind stayed sharp. In 2015 Rose joined him at the Care Home so they could be together. Leo was predeceased by his parents, John and Katherine Kopec; sons, Ken and Rick Kopec; brothers, Frank and Stan Kopec; sisters, Wanda (Harry) Gawel and Edna (Ken) Wallace and brother-in-law, Jack McLellan.Leo will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Rose Kopec of Weyburn; daughter, Debbie (Lynden) Guest of Trossachs; son, Barry (Sharon) Kopec of Cedoux; daughter, Kelly (Raymond) Paslawski of CedouxK; daughter, Coralee (Jerry) Ewanchyna of Saskatoon; daughter in law, Dorothy Kopec of Cedoux; grandchildren, Ron Kopec (Sylvanna), Michelle Sabourin, Gary (Sheena) Kopec, Tracy Kopec, Kevin (Trina) Kopec, Amanda Kopec, Michael Kopec, Christy (Jody) Duke, Stephanie Paslawski; Jenna Paslawski (Austin), Adam, Josh, Alisa Ewanchyna; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Katherine McLellan as well as聽 numerous nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
