Kathleen Elchuk (nee Horsman) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, Horace and Annie "Nan" Horsman; husband, Nicholas Elchuk; infant brother, Hector Horsman; brothers, James Horsman, Harold Horsman and William Horsman; and brothers-in-law, Fritz Johnson, Neil Eckert and Rene Fendelet. Kathleen was born to Horace and Annie on July 10, 1930 at Saltcoats. She was raised and completed her education in Saltcoats. In her early 20's Kathleen lived and worked in Fort San at the Sanitorium. After this she moved to Regina where she would eventually meet Nick. On February 29, 1968 Kathleen married Nicholas Elchuk at the Plains Hotel in Regina. Together they shared their life in Regina, Yorkton and lastly in Weyburn for 44 years. During her life Kathleen worked at the Goodwill Bakery in Weyburn and as a homemaker. Nicholas and Kathleen had one son, Kevin. She enjoyed watching Kevin play hockey as well as attending Red Wing games. Kathleen loved gardening, bicycle riding, walking, working on crossword puzzles and camping with family and friends. She was a great cook and loved to entertain both family and friends. Kathleen was active in the community and enjoyed helping Nick at the Royal Canadian Legion in Weyburn. In the summer Nick and Kathleen could be found serving coffee and welcoming visitors at Riverside Park. Kathleen was a loving wife and mother who will be sadly missed. She is survived by her son, Kevin (Laurel Rainville) Elchuk of Weyburn; grandchildren, Miranda Luhning, Keenan Sewap and Chantelle Sewap; great grandson, William Nicholas Luhning; brothers, Hubert (Elma) Horsman and Hugh Horsman; sisters, Hazel Eckert, Maybelle Fenelet, Bess (Manfred) Huesken, Valerie (Orest) Dobko and Sheila (Mark) Wickstrom as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation was held on Thursday, February 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and the funeral service was held Friday, February 28 at 2:00 pm from Fletcher funeral Chapel, Weyburn. Intermen at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Pallbearers were Brett Johnstone, Paul Dumont, Kris Weise and Tony Goertzen.
