It is with heavy hearts that we announce our Mom, Joy Janeczko, passed away on November 28, 2016 at the age of 85 years. Joy was born and raised on the family farm in Tribune. In 1955 she married Walter Janeczko, making their lifelong home in Weyburn. At 16 Joy left home to work on various farms as a housekeeper and babysitter. Always a caregiver, Joy trained as a nurse鈥檚 aid in 1952 working at the Weyburn Union Hospital until 1963. After taking a 21 year break to raise her family Joy returned to work at the Special Care Home and Group Homes.聽 Entering into retirement offered Joy the opportunity to return to school; in 1997 she graduated with a Baking/Short Order Cook Certificate. Joy was a strong, hardworking, deeply caring and religious woman who loved to be in the kitchen. She read cookbooks like others read novels. Joy was always happiest while entertaining family and friends at her kitchen table reciting her mantra Eat, Eat, Eat. Along with her passion for baking, her love of gardening and flowers spanned a lifetime. Joy enjoyed growing and sharing her roses. In 2001 she took her trip of a lifetime to California to watch the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. She invested countless hours volunteering for the church and other organizations, and was a member of the Catholic Women鈥檚 League. Joy had a group of loving friends with whom she enjoyed spending time with. She had a social calendar that was always filled with coffee time, cards or friends just popping over for a visit. Always one for current events Joy would make sure she was up to date on the news. She always had a knack for knowing what was important in your world. Mom Joy had kind eyes, a sweet smile and a soft touch. She had a warm heart with a dedication that was unshakable. We are blessed that God created her that way, she was loved and will be missed.
