John Stanley Zyla, late of Minton, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the age of 76 years. John was born Sept. 10, 1940 on the family farm to Stanley and May Zyla. He attended Diamond Coulee School from grade 1 to 3 and then was home schooled from grades 4 to 9. John completed his high school years in Minton. John helped on the family farm from an early age until 1959 when he purchased his own farm land. In 1971, John married Emily Hazen and they moved to the farm. In 1974 they were blessed with their only son, Ryan, and the three of them continued to grow crops and raise cattle. John’s hobbies were getting his private pilot’s license and amateur radio where he received two public service awards for using amateur radio to help save people’s lives. He also liked welding, mechanic work, and electronic projects. John’s favorite time of year was the 2nd weekend in July when he went camping at the International Peace Gardens and got to spend time with friends. You will be greatly missed by all.
