John Randall “Randy” Howe passed peacefully from this earthly plane Wednesday, September 7, 2016. Born January 6, 1942 he was the only child of John and Edna (McTaggart) Howe. Randy, as he was known, was truly one of Weyburn’s favorite native sons. From a very early age he did his own dance to the beat of his own drummer. He excelled at school, was an Honours student, valedictorian, loved sports and was very musically inclined. He coached basketball, curled, played golf and threw a bull’s eye dart every time!! He knew everyone and everyone knew him. Randy was a gentleman always and in every way. He was intelligent, handsome, classy, gentle, easy going, had a winning smile and a twinkle in his eye! He loved a good party and never said “no” to a tall glass of Barcardi 1873. Many were the gatherings and campfires where Randy strummed his guitar and sang songs he made up, while his cigarette burned away slowly from the fret of his guitar. Indeed, he was the life of the gathering, always had a joke to tell and stories to reminisce. Randy had several careers, Niagara Finance, Barber Motors Ltd., Dreis Bros. Pontiac Buick Dealership; and he looked after his aging parents. In August of 2014 he was diagnosed with cancer and fought a strong, courageous battle. Sadly, he is no longer in our midst. We will all miss him and remember him fondly. Farewell, Free Spirit. Randy was predeceased by his father and mother, John and Edna (McTaggart) Howe. He is survived by Aunt Tillie, many cousins and a host of close friends. A Gathering to celebrate Randy’s Life will take place Friday, September 30, at 5:30 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion (Vimy Room). Rev. John Ferrier will MC “Sharing the Memories.” Supper is available if you choose. A private interment conducted by Rev. John Ferrier will take place just prior to the gathering.
