Jennie was born in Wroclaw, Poland on Dec.27, 1926. At the age of one she came to Canada with her parents to settle east of Weyburn on a farm. Jennie took all her education in Weyburn and upon graduation took a secretarial course and became a legal stenographer. She worked for McDonald and McNeil Law Office in Weyburn until she moved to Regina in 1951 to work for a lawyer there. She met Lyle Nichol of Trossachs and married him on Aug. 7, 1954 in Weyburn. They lived in Regina until 1957 when they moved to the Nichol family farm at Trossachs. Here they raised their four children. Jennie was busy with farm life, hauling grain when needed, cooking meals and gardening. Square dancing, playing cards, sewing, reading, needlework, ceramics and visiting with friends were some of her favorite pastimes. She was a member of the Trossachs Homemakers for many years and enjoyed the friendships. She enjoyed all her children's sporting events and was one of their biggest fans. She never missed a game or 4-H event that they were involved in. Travelling was always something that she really looked forward to, especially the many trips to Las Vegas. After 42 years of marriage, Jennie lost her dear husband on Dec. 3, 1996 to heart complications. This was a very hard time. It shows her great strength and determination because she lived on her own for the next 14 years after suffering from a stroke and having macular degeneration. She still baked and entertained her family and friends. She was a very caring and compassionate mother, wife and friend. Always willing to help if she could. Being independent was so important to her! Jennie spent her last two years at Parkway and Weyburn Special Care Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 3 ,2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, with Father Gerry Bauche as Celebrant.
