On January 14 2017, Colleen and Sheila said good-bye to their mother Jean Helen (Sulz) Tait. Jean was born in the late summer of 1932 and had a typical prairie upbringing in Davidson. She was a good student but from an early age Jean wanted to be a nurse, so with one suitcase and a lot of determination, came to Weyburn to begin her medical training. It was during this time she met a local farm boy named Reg Tait. They married and started a family, first Brian, then Michael and a few years later Colleen and Sheila. Jean finished her training and worked at Souris Valley for several years. After a hiatus while the kids were young, she later returned to work at the 5th Street Nursing Home. Travelling became a passion for both Reg and Jean — travelling through the US, Canada and the Caribbean with good friends Maude and Greg Geiger. Their favourite trip was one to Portugal when they were accompanied by their youngest daughter. Jean was very good at handicrafts such as crocheting, knitting, embroidery and quilting. She was also a decent seamstress, even sewing clothes for the kids when they were little. Jean had two passions in her life, her family and her garden. She had gorgeous flowerbeds and buckets full of flowers. Jean grew all sorts of things in her garden. Her family meant the world to her and was quite delighted with her grandchildren, then her great grandchildren. Jean is predeceased by her parents, Robert Sulz and Olga Yanko; husband, Joseph Reginald Tait; sons, Brian and Michael Tait and brother, John Sulz. Jean will be remembered by her daughter, Colleen Tait (Monte Krull) of Weyburn; daughter, Sheila (Troy) Tait-Pottinger of Chilliwack, BC and their daughter, Brooke Pottinger; daughter-in-law, Brenda Tait of Weyburn, and children, Joseph (Paige), Timothy and Charla (Laura Hewit); daughter-in-law, Michellene Tait of Weyburn, and children, Amanda (Daren) Giffin and Zachary Tait; great grandchildren, Aiden, Ellis, Maya, Trinity, Bryan Jr, Ripley and Zoey; sisters, Betty (Wendell) Linka and Annabelle Kelsch; god-daughters, Susan Jackiw and Janelle Murphy; best friend, Malvina Trupour as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Celebration of Jean’s Life followed by interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to Ranch Erhlo society at Box 570, Pilot Butte, Saskatchewan, S0G 3Z0.
