James Allan Day


James "Allan" day passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Weyburn General Hospital, Weyburn on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Allan was born in Deloraine, MB to James (Jim) and Evelyn Day. Allan was predeceased by his father James Chamber Day, and brothers Bruce and Gordon Day. Allan is survived by his mother Evelyn Day of Deloraine, MB, sisters Jean Maddock of Victoria, BC, and Audrey Wrobleski of Brandon, MB, his wife Nancy Day of Weyburn, daughter Laurie Day of Carlyle, son Robert Day of Ottawa, ON, and granddaughters Chantal Day of Carlyle, Maya Thouin of Ottawa, ON and numerous nieces and nephews. Allan enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy on February 2, 1953 and was honourably discharged on February 1, 1958. He then worked for Air Canada for a brief period of time before finding his life's career in the oil industry. He worked in oil for 30 plus years in countries around the world. He met Nancy the summer of 1959 and they were married May of 1961. Allan was a proud lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He loved his family and friends deeply and was always willing to lend a helping hand any way he could. There will be a memorial service in Allan's memory held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish to honour Allan's memory may make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
