Irene, age 77, passed away at the Royal University Hospital in the loving arms of her children, Greg, Cheryl and Patricia on April 4, 2014. Irene is survived by her three children, Greg (Treena), Cheryl Kadash (Nick) and Patricia Larsen (David); grandchildren, Nicholas, Catherine, Samuel and Avery. Brothers and Sisters, Roy, Grant (Norma), Agnus (Richard) and Esther. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband, Wayne Squires (Doc); parents, Andrew and Alice; brothers, Lloyd, Tom, Stan and sister, Mildred. Irene was born in 1936 in Young. Irene attended her early school years in Orleton and convocated in Saskatoon where she then continued her education at St. Paul's School of Nursing in Saskatoon where she graduated with honers in 1958. She started her nursing careers at St. Paul's where she met her future husband Wayne while he was finishing his residency. Irene and Wayne were married in 1960 and then moved to Radville in 1962, later moving to Estevan that same year. In 1965 Irene and Wayne decided to move to Weyburn where they remained to raise their young family. Irene relocated back to Saskatoon in 2002 to live out her retirement years. After raising her children, Irene developed some deep passions. As a nurse at SVRCC she provided loving care to her patients, she loved to golf with her husband and friends, and she was an avid sports fan who loved curling, figure skating and the Saskatchewan Roughriders (most seasons). Her gentle, loving touch was always felt by those around her, whether they were in her care, at work or in her home. Those lucky enough to be near her were blessed with words of encouragement, big smiles, laughter and love. She loved her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, but mostly she loved her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother to her children, and a fantastic grandmother. The family would like to express a special thanks to the Emergency Staff at RUH and Dr. Cockcroft for the loving care he provided. A family cremation committal will be held privately.
