Ione Muriel Thue

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ione Muriel Thue on Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Radville Health Centre. Ione is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Lottie Hurlburt; husband, Art Thue; brothers, Alvin (Lillian), Harold (Velva) and Roy; sisters, Clarice (John) Mooney; brothers-in-law, Vernon Thue and Jim Amson and grandson, baby Chad Schmidt. She leaves to mourn, her sis chidren, Richard (Annette) Thue, Robert (Ruth) Thue, Brian (Lorette) Thue, Betty (Gary) Schmidt, Lorie de Vries and Lennie (Don) Waddell. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. As well, she is survived by her brothers-in-law, Arvid (Levonne) Thue, Jim (Sheila) Thue; sister-in-law, Norma Amson, Joan Thue, Myrtle (Jack) Amson, Donna (Don) Dolgopol, Joyce (Andy) Haines and numerous nieces and nephews. Ione was born on December 2, 1922 in Radville. She lived in Radville until the age of 9 years when the family moved to the farm south of Radville. Ione attended Soda Lake School until they moved back into town where she later graduated from high school. She then worked at various jobs in the area until she met her future husband while they were both working on the Levee farm. Ione married Art Thue on February 22, 1946 in Weyburn. They later moved to her father's farm where they lived and raised their six children. One by one they all "left the nest" and she and Art were able to take several bus tours over the years. After living on the farm for over 43 years they retired into Radville. Art passed away on December 7, 1999 and Ione continued to live in her own home until three weeks before her passing. Ione's church and faith were very important to her and she made life long friends through her many church activities. In all the years on the farm Ione always had a large garden and made wonderful preserves and baking. Ione's family was always the most important thing in her life and each new baby brought her great joy. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 PM from the Church of Christ, Weyburn, with Mr. Lowell Peterson officiating. Interment followed at Laurier Cemetery, Radville. Donations in memory of Ione may be made to the Radville & District Health Centre Foundation Inc. Condolences may be left at: www.fletcherfuneralchapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, 306-842-5432.
