Ines Linnea (Johnson) Rolston

Ines Linnea (Johnson) Rolston was born March 7, 1919 to Kristian and Albertina Johnson on the family farm in Saskatchewan. It was a family of nine: Hulda, Harry, Norman, Thelma, Alton, Lehman, Arthur, Agnes and last of all Grandma lnes. If you asked her, she played baseball better than any of them. Grandma聽 married William Rolston on July 22, 1937 and they took over the family farm which was the Rolston homestead north of Amulet. On top of their own farming chores, Grandma even took a job cooking for the threshers during聽 that聽 time. They had five children out on the farm: Norma Darlene (Neal Palmer), Doris Christina (John聽 Jones), Larie Edward (Louise), Douglas Maynard (Jan), and David Keith (Carol). As Grandma would say, 鈥淚t was a hard life but it was good.鈥 During the 鈥40s, Grandpa Bill spent the last 25 cents they had on a Bible book. Grandma was so furious that she threw the book onto a shelf without looking at it. It sat there for two months until finally she calmed down, and realized if Grandpa spent the last of their money on a book she might as well read it. By the end of the book Grandma believed that what she read was the Truth and by 1942 the family had pledged their lives as Jehovah鈥檚 Witnesses. Grandma鈥檚 faith was very important to her and even to the very end it brought her great comfort. Grandma loved painting, creating ceramics, crocheting, knitting and studying the bible with people. Most of all beating anyone and everyone at cards. Cards were serious business! She was very hospitable and loved having a house full of people. Grandma鈥檚 had a huge family to love and adore her. Grandma was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren and one great great on the way. There are so many more who loved her as if she was their grandma too. She was loved by many people. She never minced her words, always told you what she thought which is why we, affectionately called her GG (Grumpy Grandma). Grandma passed peacefully January 30, 2017 at the age of 97. She was surrounded by family and friends just as she had always wanted. She was tenacious, spunky, loving and strong. She was so loved and will have many waiting to welcome her back. Ines was predeceased by her parents Albertina聽 and Kristian, her siblings, her loving husband William, as well as her son-in-law-John and her daughter-in-law Carol. Funeral service was held Saturday, February 11 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah鈥檚 Witnesses in Frank, AB, with Christos Alexandropoulos presiding. Arrangements were in care of Fantin鈥檚 Funeral Chapel, Blairmore, AB, 403-562-8555.
