Howard Hill Van Dusen, born May 24, 1926 passed away peacefully on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Howard was born in Melaval to Sylvester and Eva Van Dusen. As a young man Howard moved to Regina in 1937 and moved again in 1942 to Weyburn. He worked for the auto wrecker in the summer and drove taxi in the winter. On December 2, 1943 he married Engsie Knauer and they began their life together. In 1943 Howard started working full time for Irwin "AutoParts." He would travel for the company from 1946 until 1959 when he became a manager. In 1963 he started "Auto and Machine Ltd" with his partner, Jack Pearson. This business was sold in 1978 and Howard continued to work for the new owners over the next three years. He later joined Miles Agencies, selling real estate until his retirement in 1999. Howard was active in the community in many areas. He was the Director of Weyburn Minor Ball for five years, worked with Buffalo District Boy Scouts for seven years, served as the Exalted Ruler of Weyburn Elks Lodge in 1971, served as President of Weyburn Chamber of Commerce and as an alderman for the City of Weyburn. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and held a position of Finance Chairman on the Zion Lutheran Building Program. Howard is predeceased by his parents, Sylvester and Eva Van Dusen; grandson, Kirby Schweitzer and son-in-law, Warren Schweitzer; brothers and sisters, Florence, Laura, Roy, Edith and Darl. Howard will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Engsie Van Dusen of Weyburn; children, Barry Van Dusen of Comox, BC, Sandi Schweitzer of Weyburn, Allan (Bev) Van Dusen of Weyburn, Susan (Ken) Kot of Cedoux; grandchildren, Steven and Deborah Van Dusen, Corey (Faye) Schweitzer, Wade Van Dusen, Ken (Sarah Beth) Kot, Kelly (Paula) Kot and Sarah Dawn Kot; great grandchildren, Damian, Casey, Hunter, Raundee, Ken, Michael, Brittany, Madaline, Ethan, Natalie and Nolan as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation took place on Friday, March 15 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn. A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 16 at 2:00 PM from Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn with Marjorie McLeod CLA officiating. Interment took place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Steven Van Dusen, Deborah Van Dusen, Ken D. Kot, Ken B. Kot, Kelly Kot, Michael Kot, Sarah D. Kot and Corey Schweitzer.
