Gladys Welland passed away peacefully in Olds, Alberta, at the age of 81 years after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She led a life full of accomplishments as a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Gladys will be greatly missed by her husband of 61 years, Doug; son Terry and wife Elaine; daughter Barb and husband Roger; grandchildren Kohl (Holly), Rheanna (Kyle), Mitchell, Serena, Noah, and Victoria; and great grandchildren Abbie, Mason, and Bailee. She will also be dearly missed by her sister Elsie Callan (Weyburn), cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Gladys was born in Weyburn, December 24, 1935. She grew up on the farm and attended the one room Prospect School, then moved into Weyburn to finish school at the Collegiate. Gladys began her career in administration with businesses in Weyburn before moving to the office of the Weyburn Junior High School from 1968-1980. In 1980, she moved on to work for Cambridge Shopping Centres where she managed the Weyburn Mall, the Brandon Gallery, Brantford Lynden Park Mall, Edmonton Mill Woods Town Centre, and Bower Place Mall in Red Deer, AB where she finished her career. In 2005, she and Doug relocated to Olds, AB where her life was centred around family and her involvement in the community through golf, bowling, and the many activities at The Meadows. Gladys will always be remembered for her kind, giving spirit, positive attitude, and wonderful sense of humour. Her love was her family, and she was a continual inspiration to those around her. The family extends a heartfelt thank you for the care Gladys received from Dr. Dykin and staff at the Wild Rose Clinic, as well as the terrific doctors and nurses at the Olds Hospital. In addition, we extend our gratitude to Olds Home Care and the Sunrise Encore Centre for their offers of assistance. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gladys may be made to the Olds Hospital Foundation through their web site at www.oldshealthdonations.com or by mail to the Olds Hospital Foundation, 3901 57th Avenue, Olds, AB, T4H 1T4.
