Gerald Garth Jaster passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the age of 53 years. Gerald was born to Walter and Bernice Jaster on December 11, 1960 in Weyburn. He grew up in Weyburn and eventually graduated from the Weyburn Comprehensive High School in 1978. At three months of age Gerald suffered his first asthmatic attack and continued to suffer with asthma for his whole life. He was a loving child and would get involved in many activities until the asthma would affect him. Gerald never gave up though, he never said, "I can't." Gerald worked at a variety of odd jobs, from painting tall buildings to working on farms with machinery. He enjoyed hockey, water skiing, ski-dooing, and being a member of the boy scouts. Gerald will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Walter and Bernice Jaster of Weyburn; special friend, Angie Cohen of Mission, BC; sister, Carol (Mark) McShane of St. Stephen, NB; nephews, Peter McShane (Maggie) of Airdrie, AB, Patrick (Krysten) McShane of St. Stephen, NB, Timothy (Patricia) McShane of St. Stephen, NB and Mark McShane of Portland, Maine, USA as well as 11 great nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 18 at 1:00 PM from Tatagwa View Chapel Centre, Weyburn, with Marjorie McLeod, CLA officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Donations in memory of Gerald may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Tatagwa View, Wheatland Senior Centre or Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 47.
