George Austin David passed away peacefully Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the age of 72 years. George was predeceased by his parents, Austin and Edith David; brothers, Eugene David and Jim David; infant brother, Walter John David and niece, Charlotte David. George was born at Weyburn, April 28, 1944 and grew up on the family farm with his older brother, Gene and younger brother, Jim. He attended school at Amulet and Ogema and later went on to farm with his father, Austin and brother, Jim. George was also an entrepreneur, owning a health food store, raising emus, gardening and carpentry. His interests included, woodworking, carving, photography, gardening, golf, health and fitness and travelling around Saskatchewan. George retired from farming in 1993 giving him more time to pursue these personal interests and hobbies. He was active in the community, the Ogema Arts Council, Agricultural Society, Amulet Heritage Society, Housing Authority Board, United Church Board, Rural Telephone Board, Wheat Pool Committee, Ogema Chamber of Commerce, The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association, Regina Whittlers and Carvers Club, Soo Line Camera Club, Signal Hill Arts Centre and Saskatchewan Wildlife Art Association. George lived his whole life in the Ogema area and in the house he built until the effects of Alzheimer disease made full time care necessary in Pangman Personal Care Home and later the Bengough Health Centre. George will be lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Lilias David of Ogema, and Sharon David of Regina; nieces and nephews, Wade (Jackie) David, Dennis (Jenn) David, Carla David, Jonathan (Nicole) David, Michele (Jim) Etter, Angela David (Michael Murray) and Gena David, as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m. from Ogema United Church with Marie Barr, LPM officiating. Interment will take place at Amulet Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of George may be made to Bengough Health Centre or Alzheimer Society.
