Gabriele Ciarciaglini


Gabriele Ciarciaglini was born on June 20, 1930 in Franca Villa al Mare, Italy, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. In accordance with Italian tradition, Gabriele learned woodworking from his father, Master Luigi. In 1959, Gabriele immigrated to Canada following his beloved sister, Anna. In 1964, Gabriele married Bernice Bale and began a family that included Michele, Mark, Miriam and Miles. After Bernice passed away suddenly in 1976, Gabriele married Inge Moeller and together they created a family that included Morris, Lucien, Harvey, Laurie, Liz and eventually, Cameron and Chris. In his working life as a cabinet maker in Weyburn, Gabriele was well known for the masterpieces he would create using wood. In keeping with the Italian traditions, he mentored others in his craft. Gabriele always aimed for perfection in his work his art. His creations will live on as part of his legacy. Gabriele always lived his life firmly rooted in the teachings of his faith. Gabriele's roles included cabinet maker, artist, writer, devout Catholic, Knight of Columbus, food lover, the best pasta chef, animal lover, baby whisperer, patriarch, philosopher, teacher, mentor, gentle Papa, revered Zio, loving Grandfather, wise father and cherished husband. Gabriele was predeceased by his parents, Luigi Ciarciaglini and Adele (Tacconelli) Ciarciaglini; his first wife, Bernice; three sisters, Nicoletta, Emma and Anna; two brothers, Armando and Eugenio and his son, Morris. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years, Inge, his children, Lucien (Jodi), Harvey; Laurie, Liz, Cam (Val); Michele (John), Mark (Pat), Miriam (Brian); Miles (Lisa) and Chris (Vanessa); 27 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Prayers were said Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 6:00 pm at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church Weyburn. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, May 25 at 10:00 am from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn with Father Gerry Bauche celebrating. Interment took place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn. Donations in memory of Gabriele may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or to the Weyburn Humane Society.
