Floyd's family sadly announces the passing of their dear father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Floyd passed away peacefully on May 11, 2014 at the age of 98 years in the Tatagwa View nursing home where he had been a resident for almost two years. He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life his nine children: Don (Linda) Shauf, Dave (Irene) Shauf, Myrna Ayers, Lorna (Paul) Browatzke, Christine Younghusband (Walter Wilhelms), Bev (Cliff) Block, Alvina (Glen Goudy), Calvin (Penny) Shauf and Michael (Brenda) Shauf; 29 grandchildren; 54 grerat grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Gray-Schock and Lois Shauf; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy Brodland, Mildred (Henry) Brucker and Lesley (Helen) Brodland. He was predeceased by his wife, Alma on October 25, 2008; parents, Isaac and Myrtle Shauf; siblings, Herb (Isabell) Shauf, Vern (Chris) Shauf, Ivan (Loris) Shauf, Ruby (Murray) Comba, Alvie (Mary) Shauf, Mabel (Johnny) Barber; brothers-in-law, Bob Gray, John Schock and Chris Schuman; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Shauf and sons-in-law, Daniel Younghusband and Gordon Ayers. Floyd was a hard working, dedicated farmer providing for his family. He farmed in the Griffin and Viewfield areas for many years and was able to farm until the age of 92 with the help of his wife and the "Kot Boys" watching out for them. He also worked for Pioneer Feeds. He was very involved in the Griffin Mission Church and then the Silver Heights Bible Church. He was well versed in the Bible and could quote numerous verses and passages. His mind was very keen right up to his passing. Floyd spent a lot of time reading the Bible and it was amazing how he could quote many verses or portions of scripture. He had a great love for gospel music. Many times he would break out singing, yodeling or whistling. He played steel guitar and harmonica and was involved for many years with the Weyburn Gospel singers ministering in various nursing homes. Floyd was a founding member of the Griffin Bible Camp which was eventually moved to Kenosee Lake and was a supporter of One Hope Canada (Canadian Sunday School Missions) Children's Bible Camps. He loved to curl and play baseball. Floyd had a sincere love and concern for people and will be sadly missed. He was very grateful for the good quality care he received at Tatagwa. A Celebration of Floyd's life was held at the Silver Heights Bible Church on May 16 at 2:00 PM. Interment followed at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers were Timothy Shauf, Travis Ayers, Christopher Younghusband, Eric Block, Kevin Goudy, Matthew Ambrose Martin and Austin Shauf. Honourary Pallbearers were Dwight Shauf, Greg Browatzke, Jackson Shauf, Darwin and Cherry Lackey, Hartley and Yvonne Hastings, John and Twyla Kot and Sheradon and Ronda Kot.
