On May 17, 2014, Florence Mary Dalgliesh (nee Minard) passed away at the age of 93 years. Florence was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Eugene Minard; her husband Gordon in 2000; her brother Joseph Minard; her sisters-in-law Evelyn Minard, Stella Lawford, Eva Bethell and Dorothy Dalgliesh; brothers-in-law Gardner Lawford, Bill Bethell, Floyd Dalgliesh, and Jim Cox. She will be sadly missed by her children Bonnie (Glenn) Halbwachs of Regina, Barry (Myrna) Dalgliesh of Regina, and Merle (Jim) St. Onge of Weyburn; her six grandchildren Susan Lehner of Regina and her sons Colby and Zachary; Marla (Mike) Swanson of Weyburn and her daughter Keely St. Onge; Michael Halbwachs of Toronto; Jason (Monnith) St. Onge of Weyburn and his son Kyran Paul and their daughters Myiesha and Monique St. Onge; Kari (Jeff) Dean of Regina and their children Gracyn and Jakson; and Danielle (Corey) Branvold and her children Brady, Shayda and Jaxon Cook and their daughter Paisley Branvold. She also leaves to mourn her sister Margaret Cox of Weyburn and numerous nephews and nieces. Florence was born in Weyburn on February 17, 1921, and raised on their family farm just west of Weyburn. She attended Souris School for her elementary years and graduated from Grade 12 at the Weyburn Collegiate (now Weyburn Comprehensive School) in 1939. For a short time she worked as a receptionist for Doctors Eaglesham and McGillivray. She was married to Gordon in 1940 and bravely raised her daughter alone for several years when Gordon was posted in Europe during WWII. Upon Gordon's return from the war she supported his successful business as a sand and gravel contractor. Florence's greatest enjoyments were family functions, knitting and crafts, meeting friends for coffee and even in her 80's occasionally driving her car to Regina for a shopping day. Visitation and prayers for family and friends was held Tuesday evening, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. A devout Catholic, Florence's Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church on May 21 at 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers were Keely St. Onge, Zachary Lehner, Kyran Paul, Shayda Cook, Colby Lehner and Brady Cook. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mom are welcome to be made to the Alzheimer Society or donor's choice.
