Eva Elize Winder (nee Rivard) passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at the age of 72 years. Eva was born near Harptree where she attended school until her family moved to Willow Bunch at the age of eight. It was while attending school at the convent that a deep appreciation for her faith began, which over the years grew to become the source of her strength and hope. Anyone who knew Eva, knew that her love of God-Father, Son and Holy Spirit, along with the Blessed Mother- was an integral part of everything she did. Eva was married to Ed Winder on April 5, 1961 at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn. While they made many moves over the years, they maintained strong roots in the Weyburn and Midale areas until retiring to Assiniboia five years ago in order to be closer to the hills of her youth. Eva was predeceased by her parents, Joseph "Jumbo" and Victoria Rivard; brothers, Paul, Dan, Jerry, Louis and Oscar Rivard; sisters, Evelyn (Norm) Chase and TerryLynn McDonald; brother-in-law, Al Percy and sisters-in-law, Eve Nemeth, Doris Rivard and Leone Rivard. She is survived by her faithful husband, Ed of 53 years; daughter, D'Arcy (John) Megenbir of Weyburn and their children Michelle (Jaimie) Bashutski of Regina and Camille, Thomas and Emera Megenbir of Weyburn. Also her son, Brent (Tammy) Winder of Lethbridge and their children, Shawn (Shannon) Winder and their two daughters, Sierra and Mikaela of Ponoka, AB, Robyn and Tyrone Winder, both of Lethbridge; as well as her son Jamie (Joy Pakish) Winder of Regina and their two children, Kendra Pakish of Brandon, MB and Kale Pakish of Regina; her brothers, James Rivard, Eric Rivard, Jean (Betty) Rivard and Glen (Bev) Rivard; sisters, Tina Lehn, Vic (Ken) Gair; sisters-in-law, Cecile Rivard, Lavine Rivard and Margaret Rivard; brother-in-law, Hugh McDonald, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A prayer service was held on Sunday, November 9 at 7:30 pm and the Funeral Mass was held on Monday, November 10 at 10:30 am both at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weyburn, followed by the interment in Halbrite Cemetery with both Fr. Gerry Bauche and close friend, Fr. Francis "Prince" Kurisinkal in attendance. Pallbearers were: John Megenbir, Thomas Megenbir, Brent Winder, Tyrone Winder, Jamie Winder and Kale Pakish. Donations in memory of Eva may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, 306-842-5432.
