Ernest Anton Sander passed away on September 28, 2013 at the age of 92 years with his family at his side. Ernest was predeceased by his parents August and Anne; his wife Verna; daughters-in-law: Grace and Carol; grandson Dwight; brothers: Frederick, Ferdinand, and Alfred; sisters: Hannah, Louise, and Elizabeth. Ernest will be greatly missed by his children: Glenn, Ron (Dianne), Larry (Joyce), Sharon (Dennis) Maley, Randy, Kevin (Colleen), Murray (Marianne), Janice (Bruce) Wagner; 18 grandchildren: Trevor (Lynn) Turkington, Joanne (Tim) Smith, Paula Jayne (Hussain) Ismaili, Heath Harling, Jason (Sharlene) Maley, Charla (Keith) Seto, Jeff (Kristeen) Maley, Michelle Woywitka, Kevin (Carrie) Fee, Ryan (Megan) Sander, Jolene(James) Sapara, Haley Sander, Michelle (Scott) Kuypers, Curtis Sander, Chris (Lindsey) Wagner, Brad (Jessica) Wagner, Jared (Tara) Wagner and Dustin Wagner; 21 great grandchildren: Draven, Santanna and Colton Turkington, Ryden, Jarrin, Keianna and Annalina Smith, Richard, Carmen, Allison and Kathleen Sander, Alexandria Ismaili, Madisen Leeks and Dalton Maley Alexandra and Steven Maley, Nicholas Seto, Kaitlynn and Dylan Fee, Kade and Rhett Wagner; sister Elsie Pearn; brother Walter; sisters-in-law Victoria Sander, Leona Sander, and Gertrude Hausch; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Ernest was born on March 1, 1921 near Loreborn. He attended a country school then took his high school at Loreborn. In the fall of 1942, he was conscripted into the army and served with the Regina Rifle Regiment until 1944. In the fall of 1944 he married Verna Hausch of Creelman. In 1946 they started farming in the Griffin district and he had continued to farm until recently. In addition to farming he drove a school bus for numerous years. Ernest had served on the local school board, the Ideal Telephone board, as a committee member for the Wheat Pool and a council member for the Zion Lutheran Church. Ernest enjoyed his family, friends and coffee row. A funeral service for Ernest was held on Saturday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn with Martin Olson, officiating. Interment followed at Golden Gates Cemetery, Creelman.
