Engsie Irene Van Dusen late of Weyburn, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2013 at the age of 89 years. Engsie is predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Howard Van Dusen, parents Gustav and Emilie Knauer, sister and brother-in-law, Freda and Alvin Opperman, brother James Knauer, grandson Kirby Schweitzer, and son-in-law Warren Schweitzer. Egnsie will be loving remembered by her children Barry Van Dusen of Comox, BC, Sandi Schweitzer of Weyburn, Alan (Bev) Van Dusen of Weyburn, Susan (Ken) Kot of Cedoux; grandchildren Steve (Arlene) Van Dusen, Deborah Van Dusen, Corey (Faye) Schweitzer. Wade Van Dusen, Ken (Sarah) Kot, Kelly (Paula) Kot, Sarah Dawn Kot (Brian) and her great grandchildren Damian, Casey, Hunter, Raundee, Ken, Michael, Brittany, Madaline, Ethan, Natalie and Nolan as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Engsie Knauer was born and raised in Bruno, SK. While working at the Weyburn Mental Heath Hospital she met her future husband Howard Van Dusen. They were married December 2, 1943 and had four children Barry, Sandi, Alan and Susan. When they were first married Engsie worked at home as a professional seamstress, turning out many beautiful dresses including wedding gowns (Sandi's and Susan's included). After her children were all in school she went to work at Woolworths and Weirs Travel. Engsie started a vending machine business and was seen traveling around in her own little flower car to stock up her machines. For many years she was the secretary/treasurer for the Weyburn and District United Appeal. Engsie was a lifetime member as well as a charter member of the Weyburn Royal Purple. Howard and Engsie owned and operated the Circle 6 Motel, Kasteel Van Dusen apartment building and Sangster's Health Foods store. Engsie and Howard spent many years wintering in California where she enjoyed the warm weather and her fruit trees. They spent the last few years residing at the Parkway Lodge in Weyburn, where they were well looked after. A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, April 3, at 2:00 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church, Weyburn, with Marj McLeod CLA officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn. Pallbearers were: Steven Van Dusen, Deborah Van Dusen, Ken D. Kot, Ken B. Kot, Kelly Kot, Michael Kot, Sarah D. Kot and Corey Schweitzer.
